MARIE BATHELLIER

The use of Japanese paper for its various aspects: brushed, folded or transparent is a tribute to Simon Hantai, the folding process invents again and induce to unexpected results. Japanese paper has some specific scopes that allow extended explorations and handling: in the brushed landforms, pleats and folds, Marie Bathellier loves her colours.
Inspired by Brancusi and close to his minimalist approach, her wood montage are only made from very simple and refined volumes. Some of the ‘wood stock’ sculptures seems to be ‘at the edge of the fall’
